Iowa City Yacht Club: Home
The Yacht Club is Iowa City's main source for live music set in an environment where you truly are part of the music. We have entertainment 6 nights a week with friendly servers, a coat check, ventilation system, plus serve tater tots! Trust us when we say this is not a financial endeavor - it really is about having a great time.
The Yacht Club is located in the basement of 13 S Linn St - across the street from the Cottage/new parking ramp, in a building built in 1918. The exterior of the building has remained basically unchanged since it was built and was restored in 2000. One of the best things about our location is that there is free parking right across the street if you leave after midnight on weekdays and after 3am on weekends.
We are here for your fun - plain and simple. We are not some out of town corporation and we are not some small time bar owner trying to squeeze the life out of each penny. If at the end of the night we break even but the band was great and you had a ton of fun, then we consider that a win.

Mike Dillon
was the brains behind Billy Goat
which included JJ Jungle and Go-Go Ray(Drum Counselor)
He also leads Hairy Apes BMX
which includes JJ.
When Mike is not leading bands you can find him on stage doing percussion duties for Les Claypool
and Ani Difranco.
The band made their debut on March 16th, 2006 at Davey’s Uptown in Kansas City. Since then, they have shared the stage with Zilla
and Galactic
in Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Ontario, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

Yacht Club/Minstrel Studios/New Belgium Battle of the Bands
Every Thursday in September we are hosting a battle of the bands. Each Thursday a winner is selected based on crowd votes and moves on to the final on October 11th - where the winner will get 5 days of studio time at Minstrel Studios ($1500 value). The night before the Iowa/Iowa State game and we couldn't have put together a better pre-party if we tried. Five Star's Hunab raged Camp Euforia plus they consistantly put on face melting, mind altering shows down here. Cellar Door is our favorite Iowa City up and coming band. And Strange Arrangement damn near won a battle of the bands here - and they're from Chicago.
